The purpose of this event is to familiarize the student with the important medium of broadcasting and to test the ability of the participant to read with authority, intelligence, and audience appeal while understanding the necessity of visual communication with the audience. The student will also engage in a satisfactory analysis and synthesis of news items through broadcasting, including a one-minute editorial on some item read as a part of the actual broadcast script.
